The girls’ hockey team’s season ended with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Lawrence Academy on Saturday evening in the semi-final round of the NEPSAC Tournament. After a scoreless first two periods, Lawrence took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jaclyn Gordon at the 9:58 mark. Williston fought back to tie the game with 5:41 remaining on a goal by Alex Starzyk ’13 with assists going to Sam Fallon ’12 and Alicia Barry ’14.
Neither team could break through in regulation and the game moved into overtime. Lawrence was able to capitalize early in the overtime on a goal by Devin Taylor to end the game and the Wildcat’s season. Williston ends the season with an impressive 16-10-3 record, the fifth consecutive season with a winning record under the tutelage of Christa Talbot ’98.
The Wildcats will miss the five graduating seniors who will all venture to new beginnings next year. The five girls have provided leadership, dedication and a lot of hard work during their time at Williston. They have been a part of many big moments during the last four years and have had an enormous impact on the success of the program. All five players plan to continue their athletic careers in college, we wish them the best of luck!
