Sarah Wilkie to Play Ice Hockey at Penn State University

20111113 Norton 022Sarah Wilkie ’12 (Ashby, MA) signed a letter of intent to play ice hockey at Penn State University in the fall of 2012. Penn State has recently established a women’s ice hockey program, and Sarah is excited to be among 13 new players signed this year.

Sarah is currently the captain of the Varsity Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, and Lacrosse teams at The Williston Northampton School and has excelled in the classroom, as well as the school’s athletic fields and rink.  She is excited to be joining the Nittany Lions next fall.

Williston’s Bridget Instrum Commits to Ohio State

20111115 Norton 031Senior Bridget Instrum (Granby, MA) signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse at The Ohio State University in the fall of 2012.

Bridget has been a student at The Williston Northampton School since the ninth grade, and she has left her mark on the school both in the classroom and outside of it.

“Bridget is a fierce competitor and an inspiring team leader,” said Varsity Girls Lacrosse coach Jennifer Fulcher. “She is one of the hardest workers I’ve seen on the field and off of it, and she is a joy to coach.”

Williston Seniors Selected to the New England Fall Prep Elite League

The Williston Northampton School was represented by Jay Sylvia ’12 and Alex Paolo ’12 at thedescribe the image recent Bauer Invitational Hockey Tournament in Blair, MN. The two were selected to the New England Prep All-Star team after a successful fall season with their team, the Bulldogs, in the Western New England Fall Prep Elite League. The All-Star team consisted of prep players from this league, along with players from the Eastern Fall Prep Elite League.

The Prep All-Stars played the U18 Norwegian National Team (L6-2), the Massachusetts High School All-Stars (W9-3), and the Northwood School (L7-5). During the weekend Paolo recorded two goals and an assist while Sylvia added an assist of his own.

Gymnast Jonathan Deaton ’12 Commits to Stanford University

Jonathan Deaton '12Senior Jon Deaton signed his letter of intent to join the men’s gymnastics team at Stanford University in the fall of 2012. A member of the Men’s Junior Olympic National team, Jon competed in the USA Gymnastic National Championship in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he placed second All-Around in the 16-18 age group. He missed first place by only .100 of a point. In the individual 16-18 age group events, Jon won first place in the floor exercises and in the vault.

Jon is from Longmeadow, Massachusetts and has attended The Williston Northampton School since the ninth grade. He has two older sisters, Chantal ’08 (Bryn Mawr ’12) and Fabienne ’06 (Davidson ’10), who also graduated from Williston.

Community Tailgate: Go Wildcats!

The Williston Northampton community will celebrate the Class of 2012’s final home football game of the season tonight against Tabor Academy. The tailgate begins at 5:00 p.m., and the game starts at 6:30 p.m.  The Wildcats are 4-2 on the season and looking for another win.

In an email to the school community, team co-captain, Walter McLaughlin ’12, encouraged the Williston community to: “Come show your school spirit, socialize with friends, eat bbq, and watch James Fitzgerald Ward, Junior ’12 score touchdown after touchdown!”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.  Go Wildcats!
