Teams of three or four students from the Class of 2017 planned, prepared, and planted sections of the raised beds for a fall harvest that fits the theme of “A Garden to Go.” The idea is to be able to return in September to pick and eat the produce right off the vine (almost)!

Collaboration across the Grades
The toddler class, taught by Amalia Zagorski and Melissa Bishop in the Children’s Center, planted marigold seeds at the end of March and they have been caring for their little plants and watching them grow for about 8 weeks.
About the Garden
The vision for these gardens is to grow food crops using organic, sustainable methods.
- Grow food everywhere by building good soil up, even in marginal areas
- Reduce compaction by walking around the plantings, not on the soil- more oxygen for roots!
- Extend the growing season- soil warms up earlier in the spring
- Allows for good drainage
