FIRST PAC MEETING!!!

Hey guys,

Definitely come to the first Political Awareness Club meeting of the year, this Friday at 6:45 in the PA room!!! We will be having an open discussion on the Refugee Crisis in Syria. It will be super laid back, so no worries if you don’t know a whole lot about the issue (all the more reason to come!!!). Also, there will be hot chocolate and cookies so don’t miss it!

What’s New in the Lib

Welcome to the library! Here is what’s new in the library this year:

The New York Times Digital Version.   Full access is available to anyone while on campus.  No login needed.  Add to your favorites from NYTimes.com or access from the Williston LibGuides homepage.  For information on how to customize for different devices, see a librarian or the LibGuides page.

Identifying tickers for your charger and water bottle.   Keep your water bottle safely your own and avoid having to replace a costly charger!  Stickers are dishwasher safe (you will want to keep your bottle clean) and can peel off (good for when the charger is returned at the end of the year).  Designed by our own Mattie Byrd.

Music displays from our CD collection.   Broaden your repertoire by listening to classical, R and B, jazz, folk, pop, classic rock, and more!  Not sure how a CD will work for you?  We have old school CD players.  First up:  The Motown Sound, inspired by Once in a Great City: A Detroit Story, written by recent Writers’ Workshop visitor David Maraniss.  Listen to the beat – can’t top these temptations!

Math Resource Center Officially Open!

Screenshot 2015-09-28 09.49.57Hello Everyone!
I am thrilled to report that the Math Resource Center officially opens tomorrow! The student tutors are VERY excited to help you with your math questions, and to help you learn how to use your resources to help yourself with your own math questions!! The schedule is attached, but here are some very key details for all of you to know:

· This is a student-run drop-in tutoring center. No appointment is necessary.

· You can arrive any time during the period and stay as long as you need.

· The Math Resource Center is room #28 in the Schoolhouse. Tutoring takes place in the center during the class day. On Tuesday evenings tutoring is offered in the Stu Bop from 8pm to 9pm.

· Right now tutoring is available Every period (A through F), once a week, and on Tuesday evenings.

· If at all possible, PLEASE BRING YOUR TEXTBOOK. We are working on getting a set of student editions for the resource room but are still waiting on this.

I hope that many of you discover this fantastic support system and take advantage of the service these tutors are offering.

See you on the math floor!

Ms. Anderson, the Math Department, and the math tutors extraordinaire!

The Outdoors Club

Hey Williston,

I hope your first week went well. It’s time to get back outside. If you’re interested in anything outdoorsy, hiking, biking, camping, rock climbing, skiing, etc. etc. etc., email me, Samuel Canney. The Outdoors Club is full of people who love that kind of stuff, and we’re here to help you organize whatever your heart desires.

On a side note, there’s a chance of hiking next Sunday to cool off after your first 6 day school week. Please let me know if you’re interested in that as well!

Hike on!!

Samuel Canney

President of your Outdoors Club

Habitat for Humanity, 9/27

This Sunday we have our first of three Williston Team Builds with Habitat for Humanity.  We will be helping to put the finishing touches on the Easthampton House that we worked on last year.

We’d leave around 11:30 and be back just after 4.  Please let me know if you’re interested!

Thanks for considering.

Best,
Kate Garrity

See You at the Pole

Hey Williston,

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 23, is a national day of prayer called See You at the Pole. It’s a time for students in schools around the country to gather around their flagpoles before classes start to pray for their community, school, and country.

We will be meeting at the flagpole near the lion at 8:00 am tomorrow for prayer. Everyone is welcome, and we hope to see some of you there!

Sincerely,

Sarah Lucia and Cameron Stanley
