Field trip to UMass Renaissance Center

On Friday, April 10,  Sarah Klumpp and Sarah Sawyer took their “Williston Scholars:  The Literature and History of the Elizabethan Era” class over to the Massachusetts Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Librarian Jeff Goodhind took the group on a tour of the archives and showed them a working printing press.  Students then spent time researching their independent projects in the library where they were able to use books dating back to the 17th century as well as current scholarly works. Ms. Klumpp notes, “It was great for our students to see how to conduct research at the college level and to experience the energy and enthusiasm of Jeff, who is clearly passionate about his work in Renaissance scholarship.”

Spring Dance Ensemble Auditions

Welcome back, students!

While there is still a noticeable chill in the air, the snow has begun to melt – and we all know what that means…

It’s time for Spring Dance Ensemble AUDITIONS!

Starting tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 in the Dance Studio, we will begin the process of finding our group of performers to light up the Williston stage in May. I want to invite you to join us for the remainder of the week in the afternoon if you wish to be considered. Movement auditions will be held in the form of a technique class. When participating in a movement class, please wear form-fitting movement clothing that facilitates free range of motion. All meetings will take place in the Dance studio, Reed Center. The schedule for the week is as follows:

Tuesday, March 24th: Informational Meeting, 3:30 – 5:00pm (no need to change clothing) All of your questions will be answered.
Wednesday, March 25th: Contemporary Movement Audition with Guest Artist Noel St. Jean-Chevalier, 1:30 – 3:00pm
Thursday, March 26th: Jazz/Modern Movement Audition with Laurel, 3:45 – 5:00pm
Friday, March 27th: Student Choreographer Audition, 3:30 – 5:15pm.

This Spring’s concert is already shaping up to be a performance of unprecedented artistic collaboration and intensity. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it!

See you soon,
Laurel

Live Streaming Tournament Games

Untitled design(2)The Williston Northampton Wildcats are excited to host three playoff games on campus today: girls hockey, girls basketball, and boys basketball. This is the first time in the school’s history that we’ve hosted this many winter playoff games—it’s been a great season for the Wildcats!

Find today’s tournament schedule and more information online here.

3:15 p.m.    #4 Varsity Girls Basketball (18-3) vs. #5 Pomfret

4:15 p.m.     #2 Varsity Girls Hockey (19-0-4)  vs. #7 Choate

5:45 p.m.     #2 Varsity Boys Basketball (20-3)  vs. #7 Exeter (two-time defending champions)

Screenshot 2015-03-04 11.35.04Knowing that many of our families would like to watch the games from wherever they are, we’re trying a live stream service called High School Cube. This is a new service for us, and we’re hopeful it helps you share in the excitement on campus.

You can download the High School Cube app on your phone, and then follow the Williston Northampton Live Stream Channel. Please note: there are two Williston Northampton channels, but only the Williston Northampton Live Stream Channel will be showing the games as they are played.

We are hopeful this new service works as planned; thank you for your patience as we work to bring you live events from campus.

Go, Wildcats!
