To the Williston Community

Dear Williston Community,

It’s with shock and a deep sense of loss that I share with our community the sad news of the sudden passing of Ed Chmura.  Mr. Chmura passed away on Sunday evening.  He was a 31-year employee of the school, hired in 1982. Mr. Chmura worked initially in the Business Office, but in 1993 he moved to Physical Plant, where he had a variety of responsibilities.

Those who worked most closely with Mr. Chmura—his colleagues in Physical Plant in particular; faculty who were teachers and coaches to his children; current students who are friends to his daughter Jenny ’12 and son Brian ’10—you know better than any the magnitude of this loss.

For those on campus who were particularly close to Mr. Chmura and feel counseling support would be helpful, Ben Thompson is available to provide guidance or to refer you to a counseling service off-campus. He can be contacted at Health Services at 529-3234.

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that Mr. Chmura was a cherished long-time member of the Williston Community. He will be sorely missed, and we will continue to keep his wife Marie, his children Brian and Jenny, and the rest of his family in our thoughts and prayers. Members of the Williston family will grieve in the days, weeks, and months to come.

Our Physical Plant staff will be processing this news today, and so I ask that we keep any requests there to a bare minimum.

More information regarding services will be forthcoming.

Sincerely,
Mr. Hill
