March Break Trip: Ireland

This is Ryan Tyree, the new English teacher, squash, and tennis coach here at Williston. I am so thrilled to be joining the team this year, and wanted to take a moment to let you know a bit about one of my biggest passions: travel. For the last 10 years I have had the privilege of leading student trips to Washington DC, Gettysburg, eight countries in Europe and dozens of cities along the way.

This year Mrs. Tyree and I are excited to announce a 10-day excursion to the iconic isle of Ireland! As we have done over the past six trips, we are working in conjunction with our wonderful travel group to create the ultimate balance of education and fun.

Using the lively city of Dublin as our hub, we will also venture out in three directions to explore and add to the experience. To the north, we will tour Belfast, county Antrim, and the famous Giant’s Causeway. To the west, we will spend time in the county of Galway with its breathtaking vistas. To the east, we will take a ferry ride across the sea to Wales, visiting the castle where the first ‘Prince of Wales’ was born! Along the way we will try to experience a fascinating blend of culture,  history, architecture, art, cuisine, and fun activities.

This will all take place over the opening of our spring holidays, from March 1-10. I will be giving a small presentation to the school and hoping to meet interested students in the coming weeks.

Students from past trips continue to contact Mrs. Tyree and I to express how much the experience has meant to them, which is just one more great thing about touring with students. If international travel is something you would like to hear more about or be a part of, I hope to hear from you!
