I just wanted to follow up from my assembly announcement yesterday. My goal is to get representation from all over campus and help our community create and understand a modern definition of feminism.

This is a good place to find examples and please feel free to email me with any questions or with just submissions. I am also looking for volunteers to be videotaped for the project as well. You would just have to answer basic question like “Why is feminism important to you?” or “How has feminism impacted your life?”. I want to get as many people involved as I can, students, faculty and staff- don’t be shy!

Hey, Williston!

Tomorrow night—Thursday, the 17th—Austin Sarat is coming to present in the Dodge Room at 6:15 p.m. As highlighted in assembly, in a Busta-Rhymes-like manner, Sarat will be presenting about the Death Penalty and its role in American culture and the American legal system. Again, I really think this is a tremendous learning opportunity for our ENTIRE community, faculty included!

Sustainable life club would like to remind everyone that this upcoming Tuesday is Earth day, but because we come back that night from long weekend next Thursday will be Williston Earth day. We have fun things planned like the opening of the garden, a discount on water bottles and other re-usable items at the Campus Store, and a hike up Mt. Tom. Be on the lookout for these fun opportunities and be green on Earth day!

The 1st Annual Brian Crockett Volleyball Tournament is on May 2 at 6:00 pm in the gym. We will have optional practices every Sunday night from 6-7 p.m. in the gym until the tournament so everyone will have the option of learning volleyball basics. Email your team of six to Ms. Chambers by April 28.

Here are the rules for the teams:

1. Your team needs to have at least one person of each gender.
2. You can have a max of 2 Varsity Volleyball players per team.
3. You can have a max of 2 Williston teachers per team.
4. Team names aren’t required, but why not make one for fun?!

We will also be holding optional practices in the gym every Sunday night from 6-7 p.m. for the next month, so stop by to learn how to play volleyball, a game invented right here in the Pioneer Valley! Both Varsity Volleyball coaches will be refs for the tournament and therefore not participating.

Mr. Crockett loved competition and was a great supporter of this sport and events like this. Get excited! I know Ms. Chambers and Mr. Rutherford are!!
