Each year about 1.5 million students in more than 22,000 high schools enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT. About 3 percent of those taking the test qualify to receive program recognition. As a result of their scores, this year Williston has nine students who qualified for this recognition. During All-School Assembly on Friday morning, Associate Head of School Jeff Ketchum reminded juniors and sophomores, who will be taking the test this next Wednesday, that the PSAT was more than just practice for the SAT, it was also a chance for national recognition and possible scholarship money.
