Mary Mulford Roberts ’42

Mary Mulford Roberts, 88 (Mrs. Richard H.) of Toms River, formerly of Short Hills, N.J. (50 years) passed away on Mothers Day, March 13, 2012 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.

Mary was the only child of Dr. Albert and Mary Mulford on March 17, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pa. As a young child she grew up around horses often riding her favorite, “Marie”. She also enjoyed her summers in Island Heights, N.J. racing her locally crafted Snipe Sail Boat up and down Toms River often bringing home a trophy. Continue reading

Monell Treleaven Beurmann ’46

Monell T. Beurmann, 85, died on March 1, 2013. She was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. She worked for Siemer and Hand Travel for 40 years, and also at DeRose Travel. Monell was preceded in death by her father Peter C. Treleaven, mother Helen Monell J. Treleaven and her brother Peter J. Treleaven. She is survived by her sister-in-law Beatrice, nephew Peter L. (Terri) Treleaven, nieces Monell Grondine and Judith Treleaven, as well as many cousins. A private memorial is to be held in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Robert O. Branch ’39

Robert O. Branch Jr., 92, formerly of Pepperbox Road and currently of Beechwood Drive, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Branch was born on Sept. 28, 1920, in Willimantic, the son of Robert O. Branch Sr. and Ruth (Talcott) Branch. Some of his favorite stories were of his boyhood memories sailing his canoe on Hall’s pond, sledding down Lewiston Avenue, spending summers at the church camp his family helped build, and playing the saxophone in clubs beginning at age 14.

Bob attended Williston Academy and Union College, and served in the U.S. Air Force in Paris during World War II. After the war, he worked at the Howard Johnson’s restaurant on Bank Street in New London, which he managed until retirement 36 years later. Continue reading

Conrad William Fisher ’52

PALM BEACH, FL – Conrad William Fisher, born on June 07, 1934 in Worcester, MA, a resident of Palm Beach, Florida, died on April 24, 2013. He grew up in Worcester and spent his summers in Gloucester.

The son of Rose Mandell and Julius Fisher, both of Worcester, Conrad is survived by the love of his life, Edith Robbins Fisher, presently of Palm Beach and also born and raised in Worcester, where the couple were married on August 25, 1957.

Bill Morrison, Jr. ’89

William P. “”Bill”” Morrison Jr., 42, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Painesville, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

He was born Dec. 27, 1970, in the Bronx, N.Y.

Bill was the managing director for the business development and strategic operations at Global Debt Registry, LLC. Before that, he was a senior director in marketing for Sallie Mae, SVP – national sales execution executive and west division mortgage executive for Bank of America, chief executive officer for MBNA Spain and senior vice president for MBNA USA and Canada.

Robert C. Allen, Jr. ’62

Robert “Cy” C. Allen, Jr. died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the age of 69. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 21, 1944, the son of Robert & Margaret (Clemmer) Allen.

He is survived by his wife Helen Pellegrini (“Josie”), and their daughters Katherine and Elizabeth of Mahopac; his son Christopher of Boston, MA and his mother, Alexandra Allen; and his brothers Richard (WA ’65), Thomas, William, and David (WNS ’78). He was predeceased by his sister Deborah.

Edward J. Chmura, Current Staff

Edward J. Chmura (1956 – 2013)

HATFIELD – Edward J. Chmura, 56, of 11 Scotland Road, passed away suddenly Monday, March 25, 2013, at home.

Born Aug. 29, 1956, in Northampton, he was the son of Mildred (Novak) Chmura and the late Eugene Chmura.  Ed grew up in Hadley but also spent much time in Hatfield farming with his family.

In 1974, he graduated from Hopkins Academy. He later earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Holyoke Community College.

William H. S. Roberts ’48

SOUTH HADLEY – William H. Roberts, 82, of Woodbridge St., died May 4, 2012. he was born in South Hadley. He was the son of the late Raymond and Alice (Missett) Roberts. Bill served in the United States Air Force. He was predeceased by his companion Shirley Perron. Bill is survived by his aunt, Rudy Roberts, and his former wife, Carol Roberts. The funeral for Bill will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Ryder Funeral Home followed with his burial in St. Rose Cemetery both in South Hadley. A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
