Daniel S. Rosen. Beloved son of Dr. Herbert N. and the late Shari, nee Lippitz. Loving brother of Dr. Barry (Judy) Rosen and Shoshanna Korrub (Dr. Daniel Derman). Adored uncle of Matan, Tali, Orli, and Eitan, Yael, Avi, and Yonatan. President of Mazurt Brewing Co of Atlanta.
Craig S. Wright ’07
June 21, 1988 – June 3, 2017
Naples, Florida
Craig was one of those rare and remarkable people that enriched the lives of every one he touched. He brought love, smiles and happiness to people he met all over the world as he lived his life to the fullest with a thirst for adventure and travel.
Craig was born June 21, 1988, in Springfield, Massachusetts and grew up in Massachusetts and Maine. He graduated high school from Williston Northampton School in 2007. He then went on to permanently relocate to Florida, first for college at the University of Tampa where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship, and then graduate school in Miami where he earned a master’s degree in Hospitality Management at the Florida International University. Tampa and Miami were his homes ever since and where he has more friends than anyone could even begin to count. He seemed to know everyone everywhere, and everyone loved him.
Craig was a lover of all animals, especially horses and kitties. He was a kind and gentle soul that animals could sense and felt very comfortable around him. He was so proud of his recently acquired horse, named Anna that would soon make her new home with him and Bob on their farm in Tampa. Craig traveled more in his short life than most anyone we know and made friends around the world. The entire world is heaving deep sobs over a life tragically taken too soon.
We found this list on a lined piece of paper in Craig’s handwriting among some of his things – almost like a To Do list. Yet, if you knew him, you know this wasn’t a bucket list or a list of things he wanted to do, but instead these are among the things he most loved in life; the things that brought him joy.

In addition to the many friends Craig leaves behind, he leaves his mom and dad, Bill and Anita Wright of Naples, Florida; his partner, Robert Glaser; his grandparents, Ned and Jean Wright, his aunts and uncles, Joanne and Dean Wolfe, Carole and Roger Halvorsen, and Kenneth and Rebecca Squires; and his cousins Colleen Wolfe, Amanda Halvorsen, Allison Wolfe McGrimley, and Jeffrey Halvorsen.
Nathaniel O. Novak (Luff) ’90
Nat Novak (nee Luff) passed away on April 1st, 2017 after a long illness. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara, and his three kids, Jack, Sam, and Lily.
Nat was a loving father, devoted husband, avid cyclist (consistent with his time at Williston), fearless home renovator, talented writer, cook, car geek, and advocate of humanity.
A beloved community member, Nat resided in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, where he served as crew chief of the town’s volunteer ambulance squad.
Randall S. Baird ’84
Randall Stewart Baird, 51, a former big-8 consulting-firm manager and entrepreneur, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his San Francisco home of more than 25 years.
He was born Sept. 21, 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts to G. Stewart and Martha Haskell Baird of Dover, MA, where he grew up. His most precious and enthusiastic loves were raising his two sons, Hunter, 13, and Tyler, 11, as well as singing for over 15 years in the Glide Ensemble in San Francisco.
Adventurous, spirited and ambitious, as a pre-teen Randall bicycled 800 miles and camped out from MA to the US Bi-centennial in Valley Forge with a teenage friend. His desire to experience the world led him abroad to Korea, Japan, Italy and the South Sea Islands and his love of sports never dimmed from playing hockey and tennis to rooting for his favorite Bruins team, a pass-time he remembered fondly doing with his sister Laurie over the years.
While at Williston-Northampton School, he helped develop a sci-fi section at their library, founded an all-male a cappella singing group and sang tenor with the Chamber Chorus and musical comedy productions. He earned his BS degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University in 1989 and was an active participant in his Alpha Delta Phi fraternity winning the Inter-Fraternity Pool Singles Championship in 1987. Later that same year he joined his parents with the Dedham Choral Society to sing the Verdi Requiem in Boston’s famed Symphony Hall.
Randall subsequently relocated to San Francisco, a city that embraced his quirky geek nature and love of all things sushi, where he sang in the Calvary Presbyterian Church choir before joining Glide Memorial United Methodist Church and their Ensemble. He also served as President of the San Francisco Brown Club and worked as a consultant with Arthur Anderson, Deloitte & Touché and Accenture prior to establishing his own company, 3cept, to both minister to individuals as well as provide technology direction and support for growing businesses.
Friends are welcome with their musical instruments, voices and refreshments at a memorial service scheduled for Saturday April 22 from 5-7:00pm at the Lake Merced Boathouse in San Francisco where fond memories will be shared of Randall’s warmth, humor and joie de vivre. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco or charity of your choice.
To a man that, as one friend put it, lived with texture, color and a lot of soul – you will be dearly missed.
Geoffrey A. Barnett ’72
Geoffrey Angus Barnett, 63, of Chester, NH, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. He was born in Clinton MA, on October 28, 1953, a son of Roger and Beverly (Davis) Barnett. Geoffrey was a Derry Firefighter retiring in 1996 after 17 years of service. Prior to his career with the Fire Department, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He was very active in his community, holding positions such as a trustee of Village Cemetery, a former Chester Selectman, a member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department, and even being named Citizen of the Year. Geoffrey also loved to plow snow and assisted with the Chester Boy Scouts Troop 163. He was an avid fan of the Highland Games and fiercely proud of his Scottish Heritage.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Roxanne (Cowley) Barnett, his daughter Jessica Mansur and husband Aaron, his son, Kevin Barnett and wife Shannon Barnett, four beloved grandchildren, Keira, Alex, Allison, and Kyle; two sisters, Alex Erickson, Amy Hinton, step mother Susan (Curry) Barnett and many nieces and nephews.
Sterling J. Wiedemann ’10
Sterling Joseph Wiedemann was born on April 22, 1991 in Dallas Texas. He died on July 27, 2016 in Dallas.
Sterling was the third born son of Harden and Cynthia Wiedemann and the youngest brother of Hardy and Neth Wiedemann and the grandson of Frederic and Dr. Flo Wiedemann and Jean Robinson Gulley. He was the nephew of adoring aunts, uncles and cousins to many
Sterling (known as Sterl) attended Meadowbrook pre-school, Highland Park Presbyterian Day School grades K-4 , Parish Episcopal 5-8, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts 9,10, 12 grades and his junior year at boarding school Williston Northampton in Massachusetts. Sterl attended Texas Tech University for his Freshman Year and transferred to the University of San Francisco where he was a second semester Senior at the time of his death.
Sterling, at 25 years old, gave new dimensions to the word eclectic. His interests and passions were far ranging and multitudinous. They spanned the latest Japanese electronica music to neuropharmacology and everything in between. He was a champion of social justice and believed strongly reforming the criminal justice and prison systems. Sterling was a lover, too. He felt deeply and while struggling with depression and addiction, he was capable of being truly joyful over the smallest things – a day in the park, a Miyazawa movie, voraciously reading and learning about a new interest, spending time with family and friends. Since he was a very small boy Sterling was cut from a different bolt of cloth and it showed through in some delightful and unexpected ways. He loved words and was an exceptional writer. He avidly listened to and composed music producing pieces on the piano like “ice caves.” He had an impressive list of aliases including “King Lalula.”
Everyone agreed from an early age on he was wise way beyond his years and if you were lucky, you would catch him in a moment where he would open a window and let you see. It was staggering. People attributed it to his being smart or highly intelligent, but really, it was a deep love and ancient wisdom.
John D. Hayden, III ’97
John David “J.D.” Hayden, III, Petty Officer 1St Class, USN, died Friday, February 16, 2015 in Las Vegas, NV. J.D. proudly served in the US Navy for nine years, specializing in electronics and communications. He was the recipient of several awards and commendations for outstanding service. After his discharge, he was employed by the State of Nevada in the same field. Born on Nov. 8, 1978 in Springfield, MA, he was raised in Somers, CT. J.D. leaves his mother, Concetta (Pio) Jez; his two brothers, Christopher Jez and his wife, Sara, and their daughter, Sophia, and Nicholas Jez, all of Somers. He also leaves his maternal grandfather, Pasquale Pio, of Somers, and a very close extended family and many friends.
David Brakey ’76
David S. Brakey, 44, of Natick, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home.
He was the husband of Ellen (Rosenfeld) Brakey. Born in Holyoke, he was the son of Gladys (Pryor) Brakey of Easthampton and the late Walter Brakey. He was a resident of Natick for the past 11 years.
He was employed as a chemist at Abbott Bioresearch and formerly was employed by DuPont and New England Nuclear Laboratories.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, hiking, backpacking and skiing. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts and received his master’s degree from Northeastern University.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves two children, Jesse and Danielle Brakey, both of Natick; a brother, Glenn Brakey of South Hadley; a sister, Laurie LaPointe of Greenwich, Conn.; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Ida Rosenfeld of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Priscilla Walker ’76
Priscilla Elaine Walker was born in Mt. Kisco, New York on November 22, 1958 to the late Reverend John Wesley and Alice Suzanne Walker.
She was called home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2011.
Priscilla leaves three lovely children, Kyle Francis (Kate) of California; Daeveon Alyce and Adriene Sylar both of Beacon. Also two sisters Sharon T. Allen-Ladson and Barbara A. Walker-Brickhouse both of Beacon. Three nephews James Laroy Reddrick(wife Mary),Palmer Lamont Allen(wife Beatriz) and Turone Wesley Walker;two nieces, Ashley Dawn-Suzanne Walker and Janai BreeAnnie Brickhouse all of Beacon. Two greatnieces Alaetra Lyn and Grace Teresa and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
