Diversity Day/ Chris Herren

I wanted to share a quick email with the entire Williston community in regards to Chris Herren who spoke on Friday.  The attention that you all gave him was unbelievably and I hope everyone learned “one thing” from his story.

You cancheck out his website at www.theherrenproject.org. Founded in 2011, the Herren Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation that assists individuals and families struggling with addiction.

I also wanted to share that some students have asked about supporting his foundation and I believe this is going to be the charity that we use this year during the Police and Fire Department vs. Williston faculty basketball game that will take place on Friday night April 5th at 7:00pm.  This is a class Saturday so the entire boarding school will be here.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you’d like to learn more or help out with this event.

Thanks again for a successful Diversity Day!

Daffodil Day Appeal Today and Tomorrow

Williston Community-

Today and tomorrow, Feb. 18 and 19, at lunch we are conducting our annual Daffodil Day appeal in support of the American Cancer Society. Daffodils are a sign of the coming of spring and a symbol of hope in the battle against cancer. We know that most members of our community have experienced loss of a friend or loved one as a result of this disease, and we hope that you will contribute to the efforts against cancer by purchasing a bouquet of daffodils ($10) that will be delivered to a friend or colleague on campus after the March break. You can also purchase a Gift of Hope ($25) and the American Cancer Society will deliver daffodils anonymously to a local individual who is struggling with cancer.

We will have order forms available at lunch, and you can pay through cash, check, or charge to your Williston account. Thanks for your consideration.

Senior Project Application Forms Due Feb. 27

Completed application forms for Senior Projects are due by the end of the Academic Day on Wednesday, February 27.

Senior Project application forms are now available in my office.  If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity to develop a previously established interest in a particular area of study, please come by my office to discuss it. This is NOT required of seniors, and in fact, only about 10 or 12 seniors in any particular year choose to take part in this program.  For those who do, it is a significant commitment upon which graduation and our diploma will depend.  If you have questions, please see me.  These are typically individual projects, not group projects. Thanks!
