Today is the official start of Movember. It will be a month where some of our very own start to sport mustaches to help raise awareness for men’s health. Those who cannot grow will be supporting in other ways. Such as, challenging themselves to be active every day of Movember or donating to the cause.

If you see a gentlemen, or Mobro as we call them, with a mustache ask him why he is doing it. If you see a Mobro or Mosista who is not ask them why they are supporting. Not all of us may be able to grow a mustache, but all have reasons why they are supporting the cause.

Breast Cancer Awareness Cultural Identity (CID)
Dining Commons Cox Room
Tuesday, November 3 from 6:15 p.m.

Mrs. Motyka and Mrs. Hill will share their own experiences dealing with breast cancer tomorrow night in the Cox Room at 6:15 p.m.

1) CIDs are a chance for Sharing: Our cultural identity is a powerful recognition of who we are and there is brain science behind why it is healthy to do.
2) These shared experiences make us a stronger community.
3) Each person’s story is their own, and it is only true for them at the moment they share. It may change over time as we are all changing.
4) It is understood that these cultural identities should stay in the room as a safe space, and some may share something there that they don’t want to share with others.
5) We are putting ourselves out there and are making ourselves vulnerable by sharing, so we need to respect that vulnerability by listening respectfully.
6) We understand that we are all busy, and it may happen that you need to leave during the talks. Some may join us during the talks too.
7) If someone is affected by any of the stories shared, there are adults to speak with like Mr. Spearing, Ms. Brown, your advisors, Mr. Thompson, etc.

Hi Williston!

Welcome back from what we hope was a restful and much-needed long weekend! 

Did you know that one pint of blood can save up to three lives?  Or that 41,000 blood donations are needed every day?  Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood and we can help. 

On Friday, November 13th, Williston will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive. 

If you are 16 or older, this is an opportunity for you to be a part of saving someone’s life.  Starting this Thursday, October 29th, there will be sign-ups at lunch to donate blood.  If you are 16, you can sign up after filling out a parental permission form.  If you are 17 or older you can sign up without delay!  Let’s work together to make an impact. Thank you so much!
