Robert C. Moores ’36

Robert “Bob” Moores was born January 29, 1917 in Stanford, Connecticut. He graduated in 1936 from Williston Academy in Easthampton, Massachusetts.

On June 10, 1939 he married Kathryn Mantel. They moved to Rochester in 1946. He was owner of Moores Color Center at Miracle Mile in Rochester. He retired to Birchwood, Wisconsin in 1972 and relocated to Hendersonville, North Carolina in 1999. He returned to Rochester in 2007 and resided at the Homestead of Rochester until his death.

Survivors include his 3 daughters, Susan Johnson, Cindy (Larry) McHale, Debbie (Joel) Ostrum; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Ostrum, Ruth Ostrum, Connie (Ray) Sheets and Kelly (John) Longstreth; 2 great grandchildren, Megan and Cody Longstreth; and a sister Nancy (Stanley) Poltrack. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn.

Peter Petricca ’42

Peter N. Petricca, 90, a long-time resident of Lenox and Pittsfield, died Sunday June 23, 2013 at his home in Dallas, TX.

He was President and CEO of Petricca Industries, retiring in 1987.

Born November 22, 1922, in North Adams, he was the son of Basilio and Rose Mancusso Petricca. Peter was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1942 post graduate of Williston Academy in Easthampton, MA. Following his service in World War II he attended RPI in Troy, NY earning his Bachelor of Engineering Management degree in 1950. Continue reading

Thomas Woodmansee Taylor ’56

Thomas Woodmansee Taylor ’56 died June 16, 2012 at the age of 75.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Tallulah, daughters, Mary Branham of Centreville, MD, Ann Jones of Atlanta and
son Thomas Jr. of St. Petersburg ,and 3 grandchildren, Cate and Grace Jones and
Annabelle Branham.

Tom attended the University of Pennsylvania and was graduated with a BA in journalism. His career was in advertising and marketing in New York City, Chapel Hill, NC and St. Petersburg. He was an avid cook and sports enthusiast he played tennis and was frustrated by golf. After retirement, Tom enjoyed travelling.

Elizabeth Lane Jones ’48

Jones, Elizabeth N. (nee Lane) Age 82. Beloved wife of John E. Jones; loving mother of Paul A. (Diane), William (Lori) Jones, Anne (David) White and the late John D. and Beth Jones; dear grandmother of Alex, Julia (fiancé Kyle Essery), Zach, Paul, Carolyn and David Jones, Sarah, David and Christopher White; great-grandmother of Luke Essery; fond sister of Robert (Diane) and the late Jay Lane.

Phillip DeCaro ’53

Phillipp DeCaro ’53 died peacefully at home of heart failure.

Phil was awarded the CIA’s Intelligence Star for extreme courage under hazardous conditions (the medal awarded at the end of the movie “Argo”). Only a few hundred people have ever received this award. That’s the kind of person Phil was.

Phil went to Harvard University as an undergrad, although for a time no one believed he would graduate from high school. After Harvard, Phil walked into Stanford Law School in August, requesting admission for the coming school year. He was admitted.

Anastasia L. Tessa Lekka Martin ’47

Anastasia L. “Tessa” Martin passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2012. Survived by her children, Lisa and John Fields in Rochester, NY, Andrew and Kristin Martin in Ontario, NY and William Martin and Cathy Corison in St. Helena, CA; grandchildren, Noah Fields, Ian Fields, Hanna Fields, Nicholas Alkire & Crystal Bennett, Irini Martin, Rose Martin & Grace Martin; great-granddaughter, Layla Alkire.

Tessa Martin grew up near Athens, Greece and came to the United States at the age of sixteen with a scholarship to attend college. She married John H. Martin and raised her three children Lisa, Andrew and William. She was very active in the Rochester community taking a special interest in the Eastman School of Music and the Memorial Art Gallery. Her love of opera and an early opportunity to hear William Warfield sing led her to found The William Warfield Scholarship Fund at the Eastman School of Music.

Babette “Betty” Stone Parker ’37

Parker, Babette “Betty” (Stone), 93, of Westwood a longtime former resident of Wellesley Hills and Osterville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at home.

Born in Attleboro, MA on July  25, 1919, the daughter of the late Samuel Stone and Tilda (Baer); she was the devoted wife of Dr. Jack Parker of Westwood for 68 years; the loving mother of Jack Parker Jr. of San Diego, CA and Diane and her husband Gregory Peters of Shelburne, VT; cherished grandmother of Tracey Grady and her husband Vaughn Collins of Seattle, WA, Raine and her husband Tony Pushckor of Maui, HI, Faith and her husband John James of Shelburne, VT and Andrew Peters of NY, NY; great-grandmother of Christopher, Justin, Dillon, Sky, Addison and Hadleigh; the dear sister of the late Samuel Stone Jr., Stephanie Baker and Harriet O’Keeffe and aunt to 6 nieces and nephews.
