Will YahnWilliam “Bill” Yahn passed away on December 14, 2014.

Bill was the son of Earl Edwin and Martha Blodgett Yahn of Fairfield, CT and Santa Barbara, CA. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy; sister Meredith Grenier of Palos Verdes, CA; devoted daughter and son-in-law Betsy and Chris Gillon; and 4 adoring grandchildren.

Bill was born in Detroit, MI on March 20, 1937. After graduating Trinity College (CT) in 1959, he served in the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant (J.G.), then earning an M.B.A. at the Wharton School of Business. His early life was spent in Fairfield, CT, but he and his family moved to Maryland, Mississippi and then Austin in 1981. He was a partner at Harrison-Pearson and Associates from 1991 until his retirement in January 2014.

Bill was a member of the Austin Rotary Club throughout his professional life, and a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, singing in its choir for many years. He was a passionate fisherman and enjoyed training his two dogs, Bart (deceased) and Sam.

David Ming-Li Lowe ’54

David LoweDavid Ming-Li Lowe ’54, passed away on September 24, 2013, in Los Angeles, California.

Born in Shanghai to a father who was a foreign-service officer for the Chinese Nationalist Party, the Kuomingtang, and a graduate of the University of Chicago, David was educated in Calcutta, India, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the U.S., and was, in his early years, “a mirror of the political, social, and economic make-up of my diplomat parents.”

At the encouragement of his older brother, David enrolled at Reed. “My two years at Reed were years of change and discovery. For someone as naive as I, secluded from society by gated prep schools, the freedom of action, the newly made acquaintance of the other sex, and the involvement of weightier issues all helped to form the person I am today.”

Douglas Wylde ’54

WyldeDouglas K. Wylde, 79, of 1135 Main Road, Stamford, Vt., died Monday Aug. 18, 2014 at the BMC Satellite Emergency Facility in North Adams.

He was born on Feb. 17, 1935 in North Adams, a son of the late Edward and Grace (Kay) Wylde.

He graduated from Williamstown High School and Williston Academy and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In his younger years he was employed at Continental Air Lines in Colorado. Doug was part-owner in the family business BerkMatics until his retirement in June of 2014.

Joseph Bury, Jr. ’54

Joseph L. Bury, Jr., 79, of Rockville, also known to his close relatives and friends as “Junior” went to eternal rest on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Hartford Hospital.

He was born August 23, 1934, son of the late Joseph L. and Pauline (Sadlak) Bury, Sr.  He was raised in Rockville, attending local schools.

Joseph was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph Church. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army. Joseph was co-owner with his brother, Robert S. Bury, of various real estate ventures and DeLuxe Amusements, established by their parents.

He is survived by a special cousin Marion Connor of Rockville, his additional close cousins that we are aware of, Marie Munson, Irene Gates, Stanley Sadlak, Anthony Sadlak, and Alita. He also leaves his former dedicated secretary, Joan Berman of Ellington and many caring relatives and friends.

Ann Cohen Bachmann ’54

Cohen BachmannAnn Bachmann, nee Cohen, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2014 with her family at her bedside. She leaves behind her husband Bruce, her cherished children, Steve Bachmann, Cathy (Doug) Ethridge, Betsy (Jeff) Kushen and Andy Bachmann, her adoring grandchildren Rachel Ethridge, Alex Kushen, Benjamin Ethridge and Samantha Kushen and her brother Jim (Hyla) Cohen.

Barbara Cheney Ross ’54

Barbara Cheney RossBarbara Ellen Cheney Ross, age 76, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Thursday morning, August 29th, 2013.

She bravely endured a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and heart problems. Barbara was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was raised by her parents Stanley and Dorothy Cheney.

She attended Northampton School for Girls and then Smith College in Massachusetts and received her BA from Georgian Court College in Lakewood. She later received her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and practiced family law in Toms River for over 20 years. Barbara and a colleague founded a non-profit adoption service, New Jersey Friends of FANA.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Robert, a retired USAF Colonel and Pan Am World Airways pilot. They were married for 57 wonderful years and raised four biological children: Elizabeth, Victoria, Stanley John and Ian. They adopted and loved many other children including: Adriana, Jennifer, Katherine, John, Hope, David, and Alec. Barbara and Robert lived and raised their family for over forty years in Toms River. She will be forever loved and missed by her family.
