Charles E. Jabri ’83

Charles Enver Jabri, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on December 15, 2022 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. Son of the late Marwan Jabri and Mary Lee (Sands) Jabri ’55, Charles was born April 10, 1965 on Staten Island, New York. Growing up in Longmeadow and East Longmeadow, he graduated, in 1983 from the Williston Northampton School, Easthampton, and attended the University of Massachusetts and the University of Minnesota. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Western New England College, Springfield. Charles was active in the alumni associations of WNEC and Williston Northampton School and gave of his time to the Boys and Girls Club and Shriners Hospital for Children, both in Springfield, and the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was also a long-time supporter of the Springfield Library and Museums Association. He leaves a cousin, Walter Pinto, and his wife Pamela, of Cobalt Connecticut; cousins of the Jabri family in Aleppo, Syria, the Elchelebi family in Melbourne, Australia, and Cafazzo family in Maine and Connecticut; and dear friends the Joseph Dennis family of Enfield, Connecticut. Gracious thanks to the staff at Capuano Home Care, East Longmeadow, for their caring services the past many years and for the attentive and compassionate care of the Nurses and Doctors at Cooley Dickinson. A private burial will be held at the Founders Cemetery of Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. There are no calling hours. Richard J. Harris Jr. ’83

Richard John Harris Jr., 57, of Medway, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Born in Vernon, Connecticut, he was the son of Joanne (Kells) and Richard Harris Sr. He was the loving husband of 29 years to Jane (Urlage) Harris and the devoted and proud father to his four children, Taylor, Emily, Meghan, and Alyssa of Medway.
Rich was a graduate of Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. He spent his earlier years at Eaglebrook Boarding School and Williston Northampton School. He enjoyed working as an IT system administrator for several technology companies for over 30 years, including Digital, Thompson Financial, Intel, Raytheon, Draper, and most recently, Stevenson Technology Corporation.
Rich was an avid spectator of New England sports and loved watching NASCAR and going to races with his father and son. Most importantly, he spent hours watching his children play at all competitive levels. Rich even volunteered as President of the Girls Hockey Board. Rich enjoyed working as a ski ranger at Wachusett Mountain, playing lacrosse, and playing hockey well into adulthood, including several International hockey tournaments. He always looked forward to kayaking with his family down to Secret Beach in Mashpee. He loved barbecuing, grilling and smoking meats for friends and family.
Everyone who knew him saw him as a genuine, caring friend and loved his sense of humor. Rich was your go-to-guy who put everyone ahead of himself and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Most importantly, he loved his family and his time spent with them.
Rich is survived by his sister, Debbie Dalkas; his nieces and nephews, Courtney, Amanda, Sarah, Nicholas, Jessica, Reagan and Ryland and his beloved dog, Colby.
Rich will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30th at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph’s Parish in Medway. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery on Oakland St.

Kenneth V. Packard ’83

Kenneth (Ken) Packard, 55, formerly of Westhampton, MA, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2020, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken is admired for his determination and strength, compassion and grace, and was a loving, caring father and friend who is dearly missed.

Born in Holden, Massachusetts on February 28, 1965, he was the son of Charles and Gail (Vickery) Packard. Ken was the husband of Amanda (Morgan) Packard sharing 30 years of marriage, and is survived by a daughter, Sophie. He leaves a sister, Jennifer ’89 of Beverly, a brother, Jonathan ’93 and his wife Jennifer (Pelli ’93) Packard MD of Bedford, NH, a brother-in-law, Simon Morgan and his wife Lisa (Bouthillette) of San Antonio, TX, and a sister-in-law Belinda (Morgan) Hayden and her husband Brian of Wells, ME. He leaves four nephews: Tobias and Samuel Packard, Brian and Bailey Hayden and three nieces: Hayley and Tara Morgan, and Sara Hayden, a mother-in-law Wendy Morgan, and many cherished family members, friends, and colleagues.

Ken graduated from the Williston Northampton School, Holyoke Community College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/aerospace. He worked as a project manager in the Physical Plant at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington, KY, Smith and Amherst Colleges; as an Associate Director in Facilities Maintenance and Operations at Dartmouth College; and most recently as the Director of Utilities at MIT in Cambridge. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and served on many academic and professional committees.

Ken was a Deacon of Facilities at his church and enjoyed sharing the gospel with his friends and family. He loved spending summers with his entire family and friends on Branch Lake in Ellsworth, Maine, where he vacationed as a young boy. Ken swam competitively since he was seven years old through college and enjoyed boating, waterskiing, kayaking, bike riding and downhill skiing.

A Memorial Service celebrating Ken’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 11:00am at Redeemer Fellowship Church, 111 Mount Auburn Street in Watertown, MA. Assisting the family is Campbell Funeral Home in Beverly, MA.

R. Scott Giguere ’83

R. Scott Giguere, 54, loving son, brother and partner and devoted father died peacefully, at his home in Killington, VT on November 22, 2018, surrounded with love, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Since the inception of Killington as a ski area, Giguere, has been a seminal figure in the vitality and development of the area. With the passing of Scott Giguere, an era also passes. Loved and known as Scotty, by all who knew him, Scott’s friendship was unbounded. There’s little that he hasn’t done for so many, that his goodness could not possibly pass with him. His love, laughter and light in his eyes, were forthcoming, whenever you were greeted by him. From the Wobbly Barn to Charity’s, to the Mountain and down to Route 4, Scott’s presence was an integral thread binding the community together.

Born in Killington on September 29,1964 to Jack Giguere and Phoebe Standish. Scott was predeceased by his father Jack, is survived by his mother Phoebe, son Colin, brother Brett, step brother Kenan, his partner, Jessica , best friend Benny, step mother, Teri, ex-wife Nicole, his precious dog Roxy and many other family members and many, many friends. His love for his family, especially for his son, was unbounded.

Scott was an avid skier and ski racer, a lifelong resident of Killington. He also enjoyed spending time at family homes on St. John U.S. Virgin Islands, Nantucket and Florida. He attended the Woodstock High School, transferred to the Williston Northampton School where he graduated. He went on to St. Lawrence University and graduated with a BA. His enthusiasm for everything he did, was obvious to all close to him, in all of his activities, from skiing, hiking, construction, building, developing and running Charity’s Restaurant. Scott’s tall, handsome, strapping stature, hearty laugh and winning smile was surpassed only by his kindness, generosity of spirit and full undivided attention that he gave to all who knew and loved him. His hospitality was unrivaled, at his home or business. You always felt welcomed by Scotty.

There is a deep absence felt by all who knew him, but Scott lives on in his family, friends and the community. Thank you, Scotty, for all you gave us. You will always be deeply loved.

A memorial service for Scott will be held on Saturday December 22nd at 10:00 am at the Church of Our Savior, Mission Farm, Killington, VT with a celebration to follow at the Foundry Restaurant in Killington from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend either event.
