NEML1 Results (16-17) & AMC8

NEML-logoWe got a great start out of the gate with 27 Williston students sitting for the first round of the New England Math League competition! We ended up with a strong team score of 24, placing us 30th out of 119 teams!

NEML2 will take place on Tuesday, 11/15 from 2:30 to 3:30pm in SH25. Anyone at ANY level of math is encouraged to participate! The contest lasts 30 minutes and you must begin by 3:05. You can use a calculator. No sign up required!

The AMC8 competition will take place on Tuesday, 11/15 from 3 to 4pm in the Middle School and is open to any student in 7th or 8th grade. Complete competition details are below as well as the sign up form.

The AMC8 competition will be held on
Tuesday, 11/15 from 3 to 4pm.

The competition is open to all 7th and 8th graders who will be younger than 14.5 on 11/15.

There are 30 spots for people to participate. Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

AMC 8 Results

AMC-lgoWe had a fantastic showing in the AMC 8 math competition! Our performance is especially impressive given that this was the first time Williston participated in the AMC 8!

The competition was 40 minutes long and was made up of 25 multiple choice questions. Calculators were not allowed.

Overall, 13 7th graders and 9 8th graders participated. Our overall average score was 11.5, with the 8th graders averaging 12.8 and the 7th graders averaging 10.6.

AMC 8 Update

AMC-lgoI am very excited to announce that 29 students have signed up to participate in the AMC 8! Student who are on the list will be emailed shortly. We have space for a few more participants, so if you’re interested in joining the fun (and you’re in 7th or 8th grade), please talk to Ms. Fulcher or Mr. Seamon.

The contest will take place on Tuesday, 11/18 from 2:30 to 3:30 in WB. Any Williston 7th and 8th grader is welcome to participate. The competition itself lasts 40 minutes and is comprised of 25 multiple choice questions. No calculators are allowed and there is no penalty for guessing. Cookies and other refreshments will be provided after the competition.
