24 students sat for the 2nd round of the New England Math League!

On the hardest round yet the team finished with an average individual score of 2.46 and a team score of 21!

Here are the top finishers by grade:

  • 12th – 4 points – Bruton Strange, Juanes Vargas, Jerry Landma, Anita Hua, Alan Rodal
  • 11th – 5 points – Shuei Harada
  • 10th – 4 points – Jeffrey Warner
  • 9th – 3 points – Jack Berrien, Dionysus Lively

The fourth round of the New England Math League will take place on Thursday, January 13th in Schoolhouse 25! Anyone at any level of math is welcome to compete! The competition lasts 30 minutes, you may use a calculator, and you must begin before 3:15pm.

The team score (21) is the sum of our top 5 scores:

New England Math League 21-22!

NEML fun!

The NEML is a 6-round individual math competition. Each round consists of 6 questions that are each worth 1 point. Topics range from Algebra 1 to Trigonometry. A sample contest can be found here.

Anyone at ANY level of math is welcome to compete!

This year the rounds will run on:

  • Round 1 = Thursday, October 21st, 2021
  • Round 2 = Thursday, November 4th, 2021
  • Round 3 = Thursday, December 2nd, 2021
  • Round 4 = Thursday, January 13th, 2022
  • Round 5 = Thursday, February 10th, 2022
  • Round 6 = Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022

Each round takes places in Schoolhouse 25, lasts 30 minutes and participants may use a calculator.

Participants may begin any time between 2:45 and 3:15pm on competition days.

No sign ups are needed. Just show up at Schoolhouse 25 with a pencil and a calculator!

Each round our team score is the sum of our top 5 individual scores.

This year prizes will be awarded to the top finishers from each grade at Williston!

Yahya and Jack score big! Ji Soo begins the USAMO!

The results are in from the 7th and 8th grade rounds of the New England Math League!

Yahya Wilson ’26 finished 6th in the 7th grade division and Jack Berrien ’25 finished 28th in the 8th grade! [Competitors from 30 schools from all around New England participated.]

Last week 20 middle schoolers sat for the 7th and 8th grade rounds of the New England Math League!
