As I walked by Mrs. Anderson’s class today an explosion of bright color caught my eye, so I popped on in… and found these amazing trig posters!

Last night I ran a review session for math section of the upcoming PSAT examination. My screen recording of the session is below along with a few resource documents. A few helpful things to remember:
1) Always guess if you can eliminate at least one answer.
2) Make sure you guess randomly.
3) Make sure you are answering what the question is asking.
4) Just because the answer you came up with is listed as a choice doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the correct answer.

Check out this amazing trig function dance video made by the fantastic Berkshire School math department!
Today might not be a school day for the kids here at Williston, but the faculty is hard at work having a blast at our professional development day! The department is currently connection in small subject groups. Also, here are some of the resources I shared this morning:

I just finished putting two new student screencast playlists online from my BC & Multivariable Calculus class. Enjoy!
13.3 – The Dot Product
13.4 – The Cross Product
Here’s a particularly strong student video from 13.3:
I just created a students screencasts page that contains direct links to all of the video playlists I have created for all of the student screencasts my students have created so far this year. The page will be continually updated with new videos as they are put online. Here’s a great recent video created by one of my Algebra 2 students:
A fantastic video of Edward Frenkel, author of Love and Math (a fantastic book!), was just put online that I think is well worth watching.
In the video he answers the question, “Why do people hate mathematics?” along with many others.
What about you? Why do you think people hate mathematics? Let me know in the comments of this post.
A few weeks ago Microsoft came to campus to film a promo video on Williston’s adoption of the Surface Pro and one place they filmed was my BC & Multivariable Calculus class. Lots of footage is from my classroom, including interviews of my students, made it into the promo. Check it out!
